Description

A flavorful and zesty Spicy Lemon Garlic Shrimp recipe featuring jumbo shrimp seared to perfection in a buttery garlic sauce with hints of paprika, chili flakes, and fresh lemon juice. Perfectly balanced with a touch of white wine and fresh cilantro, this dish pairs wonderfully with mashed potatoes and Italian salad for a quick and delicious meal.

Ingredients

Shrimp and Seasoning

  • 2 lb raw jumbo shrimp, peeled and deveined
  • ½ teaspoon sea salt or to taste
  • ½ teaspoon black pepper or to taste
  • 1 teaspoon onion powder
  • 2 teaspoons paprika
  • 2 teaspoons chili flakes or to taste

Sauce and Garnish

  • 6 tablespoons butter or olive oil (divided as 1 tbsp for seasoning, 2 tbsp for searing, 4 tbsp for sauce)
  • 9 cloves garlic, minced or finely chopped
  • 2 tablespoons lemon juice, freshly squeezed
  • ¼ cup white wine
  • 2 tablespoons cilantro, finely chopped

Instructions

  1. Prepare Shrimp: Rinse the shrimp under cold water. Pat dry thoroughly with paper towels to remove any excess moisture. Place the shrimp in a large bowl and season with 1 tablespoon of butter, sea salt, black pepper, onion powder, paprika, and chili flakes. Toss well to coat evenly.
  2. Sear Shrimp: Heat 2 tablespoons of butter over medium-high heat in a skillet. Once melted and hot, add the shrimp in a single layer. Sear each side for about 1 minute until shrimp turn pink and slightly golden. Remove the shrimp from the skillet and set aside.
  3. Prepare Garlic Sauce: Deglaze the skillet by pouring in ¼ cup of white wine, scraping up any browned bits from the pan. Add 4 tablespoons of butter and the minced garlic. Cook over low heat, stirring frequently, until the garlic turns golden brown but does not burn, about 1-2 minutes.
  4. Combine and Finish: Add the finely chopped cilantro into the garlic sauce and stir for 1 minute on low heat. Return the seared shrimp to the skillet and toss to coat them thoroughly in the sauce. Drizzle the freshly squeezed lemon juice over the shrimp, give a final mix, and remove from heat.
  5. Serve: Serve the spicy lemon garlic shrimp hot, ideally accompanied by creamy mashed potatoes and a fresh Italian salad for a complete meal experience.
