Description

These S’mores Rice Krispies Treats Pinwheels combine the nostalgic flavors of classic s’mores with the crispy, chewy texture of Rice Krispies treats. A buttery marshmallow base mixed with graham cracker crumbs and crispy cereal is layered with creamy marshmallow creme and melted Hershey’s chocolate, then rolled into fun pinwheels for a perfect treat that’s great for parties or a sweet snack.

Ingredients

Marshmallow Mixture

  • 10 oz miniature marshmallows
  • 1/4 cup Challenge butter (plus extra for greasing)

Dry Ingredients

  • 5 cups Rice Krispies cereal
  • 3/4 cup graham cracker crumbs

Toppings and Fillings

  • 7 oz jar marshmallow creme
  • 6 Hershey’s chocolate bars (1.55 oz each)

Instructions

  1. Preheat and Prepare Pan: Preheat your oven to 200 degrees Fahrenheit. Line a 10×15 inch jellyroll pan with waxed paper and butter the paper thoroughly to prevent sticking. Set aside.
  2. Melt Marshmallows and Butter: In a microwave-safe bowl, combine the miniature marshmallows with 1/4 cup of butter. Cover the bowl and microwave on high for 30 seconds, then stir. Repeat microwaving and stirring in 30-second intervals until the mixture is completely melted and smooth.
  3. Mix in Dry Ingredients: Immediately stir in the Rice Krispies cereal and graham cracker crumbs to the melted marshmallow mixture until everything is evenly coated and well blended.
  4. Press Mixture into Pan: Transfer the treat mixture into the prepared jellyroll pan. Use a buttered spatula or your hands (buttered) to press it firmly and evenly into the pan.
  5. Spread Marshmallow Creme: Using an offset spatula, spread the marshmallow creme evenly over the top of the pressed cereal mixture to create a smooth layer.
  6. Add Chocolate: Arrange the Hershey’s chocolate bars directly on top of the marshmallow creme layer.
  7. Soften Chocolate in Oven: Place the pan in the preheated oven for about 2 minutes to soften the chocolate bars. Once softened, use a spatula to spread the chocolate evenly over the marshmallow creme layer.
  8. Cool and Roll: Allow the mixture to cool for 10 minutes to set slightly. Then, starting at the long edge, carefully roll the mixture jellyroll-style, peeling away the waxed paper as you go. Pinch the seam to seal the roll.
  9. Chill Before Serving: Place the pinwheel seam side down in the pan and refrigerate for 30 to 45 minutes or until the chocolate has completely set.
  10. Slice and Serve: Once firm, slice the roll into pinwheel pieces and serve immediately for a fun s’mores-inspired treat.

Notes

  • Butter the waxed paper well to avoid sticking when rolling the treats.
  • Use an offset spatula for easier spreading of marshmallow creme and softened chocolate.
  • Ensure the marshmallows and butter mixture is fully melted to prevent lumps in the treats.
  • Refrigeration helps the pinwheels maintain their shape and makes slicing easier.
  • Store leftover pinwheels in an airtight container at room temperature or refrigerated for up to 3 days.
