Description

This Pizza Grilled Cheese sandwich combines the gooey, melty cheese and tangy pizza sauce with savory pepperoni slices, all toasted perfectly on artisan bread to create a deliciously crispy and cheesy meal perfect for lunch or a quick dinner.

Ingredients

Main Ingredients

  • 2 Tablespoons Butter
  • 8 Slices Artisan Bread
  • 8 Tablespoons Pizza Sauce
  • 24 Slices Pepperoni
  • 8 Slices Cheese (mozzarella recommended)

Instructions

  1. Preheat the Grill: Preheat the Blackstone grill over medium-high heat, aiming for about 400 degrees Fahrenheit to ensure optimal grilling temperature.
  2. Melt Butter on Grill: Place butter on the grill and melt it, then spread evenly across the surface using a spatula to prevent sticking and add flavor.
  3. Grill Bread Base: Place 4 slices of artisan bread on the buttered grill surface to start building the sandwiches.
  4. Add Sauce and Pepperoni: Spread 1 tablespoon of pizza sauce on each slice of bread, then top each slice with 6 slices of pepperoni for a savory layer.
  5. Add Cheese Layers: Add one slice of cheese atop the pepperoni, then add a second layer of pepperoni and another slice of cheese to build richness and flavor.
  6. Top with Remaining Bread: Spread 1 tablespoon of pizza sauce on the remaining 4 bread slices and place them sauce-side down on top of the layered bread slices to complete the sandwiches.
  7. Grill the Sandwiches: Cook for 2-3 minutes until the bottom bread is browned and crispy, then carefully flip the sandwiches and cook for another 2-3 minutes to brown the other side.
  8. Serve Warm: Remove the sandwiches from the grill, serve immediately while cheese is melted and warm, and enjoy your pizza grilled cheese.

Notes

  • Serving – Best enjoyed immediately to experience the warm melted cheese and crispy pepperoni.
  • Griddle – Ensure the flat top grill is preheated to medium-high heat for even cooking.
  • Oil the Griddle – Butter the surface well to prevent sticking and promote crispness.
  • Variations – Substitute turkey pepperoni for a lighter option.
  • Cheese Options – Use mozzarella or experiment with American, parmesan, pepper jack, or Munster cheeses, even combining two types.
  • Bread Choices – Any favorite bread such as sourdough, ciabatta, Texas toast, or garlic bread works well.
  • Additional Toppings – Add vegetables like chopped onions, mushrooms, olives, or peppers, or meats like sausage crumbles to customize the sandwich.
