Description

This Pink Gelatin Recipe is a simple and refreshing dessert made with unflavored gelatin, fruit juice, and sugar. The vibrant pink color comes from using strawberry or raspberry juice, making it both visually appealing and deliciously fruity. Perfectly set and garnished with fresh fruit, this gelatin dessert is light, easy to prepare, and ideal for a quick treat or party dessert.

Ingredients

Gelatin Mixture

  • 1 packet of unflavored gelatin
  • 1/2 cup of cold water
  • 1/2 cup of boiling water

Flavoring

  • 1 cup of fruit juice (strawberry or raspberry for pink color)
  • 1/4 cup of sugar

Garnish (Optional)

  • Fresh fruit

Instructions

  1. Bloom the gelatin: In a large mixing bowl, sprinkle the packet of unflavored gelatin evenly over 1/2 cup of cold water. Let it sit undisturbed for 5 minutes to allow the gelatin to soften and absorb the water.
  2. Dissolve the gelatin: Carefully add 1/2 cup of boiling water to the gelatin mixture. Use a whisk to stir continuously until the gelatin is fully dissolved and the mixture is clear without any granules.
  3. Add sugar and fruit juice: Stir in 1/4 cup of sugar and 1 cup of your chosen fruit juice (strawberry or raspberry) using a silicone spatula until the sugar is completely dissolved and the mixture is uniformly combined.
  4. Refrigerate to set: Pour the gelatin mixture into a mold or baking dish. Place it in the refrigerator for at least 4 hours or until the gelatin has fully set and is firm to the touch.
  5. Unmold the gelatin: To remove the gelatin from the mold, run a knife gently around the edges to loosen it. Then invert the mold onto a serving plate to release the gelatin.
  6. Garnish and serve: Optionally, slice fresh fruit using a paring knife and garnish the gelatin for added color and flavor. Serve chilled, using a slotted spoon to portion out the gelatin dessert.

Notes

  • For a firmer gelatin, use slightly less liquid or an additional gelatin packet.
  • Ensure the gelatin is fully dissolved to avoid a grainy texture.
  • Fresh or frozen fruit juices can be used, preferably without added sugars for better control.
  • If using fresh fruit for garnish, choose varieties that complement the flavor of the juice such as strawberries, raspberries, or kiwi.
  • Make sure to refrigerate the gelatin long enough to set completely; do not rush the chilling process.
  • Unflavored gelatin can be substituted with a vegetarian gelatin alternative if desired.
