Description

Parmesan Crusted Tilapia is a quick and easy baked fish recipe featuring tender tilapia fillets topped with a crispy, golden blend of panko bread crumbs and shredded Parmesan cheese. Perfect for a healthy weeknight dinner, this flavorful dish is ready in under 30 minutes and pairs wonderfully with steamed vegetables or a fresh salad.

Ingredients

Fish and Coating

  • 4 Tilapia fillets (about 1 pound), thawed if frozen
  • ½ cup Panko bread crumbs
  • ½ cup Parmesan cheese, shredded
  • 3 Tablespoons butter, melted

Instructions

  1. Preheat Oven: Preheat your oven to 425 degrees Fahrenheit to ensure it’s hot enough to crisp the Parmesan topping perfectly.
  2. Prepare Baking Sheet: Lightly spray a cookie sheet with non-stick cooking spray to prevent the fish from sticking during baking.
  3. Mix Coating: In a bowl, combine the melted butter, panko bread crumbs, and shredded Parmesan cheese until evenly mixed.
  4. Assemble Fillets: Lay the tilapia fillets evenly spaced on the prepared cookie sheet. Generously top each fillet with the Parmesan and panko mixture, pressing gently to adhere the coating.
  5. Bake: Place the cookie sheet in the preheated oven and bake for 15 to 20 minutes, or until the fish flakes easily with a fork and the topping is golden brown and crispy.

Notes

  • Leftover cooked tilapia can be stored in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 to 4 days.
  • To freeze, wrap each fillet tightly in plastic wrap or foil and place in a freezer-safe bag or container; frozen cooked tilapia will keep for up to 3 months.
  • When reheating, bake in the oven until warmed through. The panko breading might not be as crispy but will still taste delicious.
