Ingredients
Main Ingredients
- 1 tablespoon olive oil
- 1 large onion, thinly sliced
- 1 large green pepper, thinly sliced
- 1 lb ribeye steak, very thinly sliced
- 1 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce
- Salt and pepper to taste
- 12 Hawaiian sweet rolls (King’s recommended)
- 4 tablespoons mayonnaise (optional)
- 12 slices provolone cheese
- 1 tablespoon melted butter
- ¼ teaspoon garlic powder
- ¼ teaspoon Italian seasoning
- Optional: parsley for garnishing
Instructions
- Preheat Oven: Preheat your oven to 375°F to prepare for baking the assembled sliders.
- Cook Steak: Heat 1 tablespoon of olive oil in a skillet over high heat. Once hot, add the thinly sliced ribeye steak in batches to avoid overcrowding. Cook until just done, ensuring not to overcook. Season with Worcestershire sauce, salt, and pepper. Remove the cooked steak and set aside.
- Sauté Vegetables: Add another tablespoon of olive oil to the same skillet. Sauté the thinly sliced onions and green peppers until they are softened and fragrant. Remove from heat.
- Prepare Rolls: Carefully slice the Hawaiian rolls horizontally to separate the top and bottom halves, keeping the bun intact. Place the bottom halves evenly in a baking dish sized approximately 11” x 7” or 9” x 13”.
- Assemble Sliders: Optionally spread a thin layer of mayonnaise on both the tops and bottoms of the rolls. Layer 6 slices of provolone cheese over the rolls’ bottom halves, then add the cooked steak followed by the sautéed onions and peppers. Place the remaining 6 slices of provolone over the fillings, then cover with the top halves of the rolls.
- Add Butter Mixture: In a small bowl, mix the melted butter, garlic powder, and Italian seasoning. Brush this flavorful mixture evenly over the top of the rolls to enhance browning and flavor.
- Bake: Cover the assembled sliders with foil and bake in the preheated oven for 15 minutes. Remove the foil and bake for an additional 5 minutes or until the cheese is melted and the rolls are toasted. If the rolls begin to brown too quickly, cover them again with foil to prevent burning.
- Serve: Once baked, cut the sliders apart and garnish with optional parsley. Serve warm and enjoy your homemade Philly Cheesesteak Sliders.
Notes
- The ribeye steak is preferred for its juiciness, tenderness, and flavor; skirt steak or New York Strip can be used as alternatives.
- For convenience, ask your butcher to thinly slice the steak or look for pre-sliced steak products like Steak-Ums in grocers.
- Mayonnaise is optional but adds creaminess and moisture to the sliders.
