Description

This Cinnamon Swirl Bread is a simple and delicious twist on traditional bread, made using cake mix for a moist, flavorful loaf. With layers of cinnamon sugar swirled throughout and a sweet vanilla icing drizzled on top, it makes a perfect breakfast treat or snack.

Ingredients

Bread Batter

  • 15.25 oz box yellow or white cake mix
  • 3 eggs
  • 1 cup milk
  • ⅓ cup softened butter or cooking oil

Cinnamon Sugar

  • ¼ cup sugar
  • ¼ cup brown sugar
  • 2 tablespoons cinnamon
  • Dash of salt (optional)
  • 2 dashes nutmeg (optional)

Icing

  • ½ cup powdered sugar
  • 1 tablespoon milk
  • ¼ teaspoon vanilla extract

Instructions

  1. Preheat Oven: Preheat your oven to 350ºF (175ºC) to ensure it’s at the perfect temperature for baking the bread.
  2. Make Batter: In a large bowl, combine the cake mix, eggs, milk, and softened butter. Use a hand mixer to beat the mixture at medium speed for about 2 minutes until smooth and well blended.
  3. Prepare Loaf Pans: Grease two loaf pans with cooking spray or butter to prevent the bread from sticking during baking.
  4. Make Cinnamon Sugar: In a small bowl, mix together sugar, brown sugar, and cinnamon using a fork until fully combined. Optionally, add a dash of salt and nutmeg for enhanced flavor.
  5. Layer Batter and Cinnamon Sugar: Pour a layer of batter into each loaf pan, enough to cover the bottom evenly. Sprinkle a layer of the cinnamon sugar mixture evenly over the batter. Repeat layering the batter and cinnamon sugar until all ingredients are used, using a knife to spread and swirl the cinnamon sugar for a marbled effect if desired.
  6. Bake Bread: Place the loaf pans on the middle oven rack and bake for approximately 40 minutes. Check doneness by inserting a toothpick into the center; it should come out clean when fully baked.
  7. Prepare Icing: While the bread bakes, mix powdered sugar, milk, and vanilla extract in a small bowl until smooth using a fork.
  8. Cool and Ice: Remove bread from oven and let it cool for 5-10 minutes. Drizzle the icing over the warm loaves using a spoon or piping bag.
  9. Serve or Store: Slice and serve the bread warm or allow the icing to harden before wrapping the loaves tightly in plastic wrap for later enjoyment.

Notes

  • You can use either yellow or white cake mix based on your flavor preference.
  • Softened butter or cooking oil can be used interchangeably in the batter depending on dietary needs or availability.
  • The optional dash of salt and nutmeg in the cinnamon sugar enhances flavor but can be omitted if preferred.
  • For a more pronounced swirl, gently run a knife through the batter layers before baking.
  • Store the bread wrapped in plastic wrap to maintain moisture and freshness.
  • This bread is best enjoyed within 2-3 days when stored at room temperature.
