Description

This Chocolate Avocado Banana Smoothie is a creamy, nutritious blend that combines ripe bananas, rich avocado, and cocoa powder for a delicious and healthy treat. Perfect for breakfast or a snack, it’s naturally sweetened with fruit and can be customized with your choice of milk and optional add-ins like chia seeds or protein powder.

Ingredients

Base Ingredients

  • ¼-½ medium avocado, the more avocado you use, the creamier the smoothie
  • 1 ½ cups milk of choice (dairy or plant-based)
  • 1-2 large very ripe bananas, frozen, depending on desired sweetness
  • 2 tablespoons cocoa powder
  • ¼ teaspoon ground cinnamon

Optional Sweeteners and Add-ins

  • Maple syrup or honey, to taste
  • Ice, optional
  • Chia seeds, flax meal, and/or hemp hearts (1 tablespoon each, optional)
  • Peanut butter or almond butter (optional)
  • Protein powder (optional)

Instructions

  1. Blend Avocado and Milk: Add the avocado and milk of your choice into a blender. Blend until the mixture is smooth and creamy to form a rich base.
  2. Add Remaining Ingredients: Add the frozen bananas, cocoa powder, and ground cinnamon into the blender. Blend again until all ingredients are fully combined and smooth.
  3. Adjust Sweetness and Consistency: Taste your smoothie and add maple syrup or honey if you prefer it sweeter. For a thicker smoothie, add ice cubes and blend again. If it’s too thick, add a small amount of water to thin it out and blend once more.
  4. Serve Immediately: Pour the smoothie evenly into two glasses and enjoy fresh for the best flavor and texture.

Notes

  • Add extra nutrition by including 1 tablespoon of chia seeds, flax meal, or hemp hearts for fiber and omega-3 fatty acids.
  • Adjust the sweetness by varying the number of ripe bananas used or by adding maple syrup or honey to taste.
  • Boost protein content by adding protein powder or a scoop of peanut or almond butter.
  • Modify the smoothie’s consistency by adding more or less liquid (milk or water), or by including ice cubes to thicken.
