Made with mint-flavored Oreo cookies and cream cheese, coated in creamy white chocolate, and decorated with marshmallow ears and candy features, they are sure to enchant both kids and adults alike.
Ingredients
Base
- 1 package (16 ounces) mint flavored Oreo Chocolate Sandwich Cookies
- 1 package (8 ounces) cream cheese, softened
Coating
- 16 ounces white chocolate or white candy melts, melted
Decorations
- Miniature marshmallows (ears)
- Pink sugar crystals (for ears)
- Pink nonpareil sprinkles (nose)
- Small candy eyes
- White candy coated chocolate pearls (tail)
Instructions
- Prepare the ears: Cut miniature marshmallows in half diagonally to form bunny ears. Immediately press the cut sides into pink sanding sugar to add color and texture. Set these aside for later decoration.
- Prepare a baking sheet: Line a baking sheet with waxed paper to place the Oreo balls on after dipping in chocolate.
- Make Oreo mixture: Place the mint Oreo cookies into a food processor. Pulse until the cookies become fine crumbs. Cut the softened cream cheese into chunks and add to the food processor. Pulse again until the mixture is well blended and forms a large ball of dough.
- Shape the balls: Using a small cookie scoop or spoon, scoop the dough into 1-inch portions and roll each into smooth balls. For best results, freeze the Oreo balls prior to decorating to help them firm up and hold shape.
- Dip in chocolate: Dip each Oreo ball into the melted white chocolate or candy melts. Tap gently to remove excess chocolate, then place the coated ball onto the prepared baking sheet. (Tip: If using candy melts, add a small amount of vegetable shortening or coconut oil while melting to create a smoother coating.)
- Decorate the bunnies: Once the chocolate coating has set slightly but is still tacky, use the remaining melted chocolate and a toothpick to attach the marshmallow ears, candy eyes, pink nonpareil sprinkle noses, and white candy pearl tails to each ball to create the bunny features.
- Chill the Oreo balls: Place the cookie sheet in the refrigerator for about 1 hour or until the chocolate coating is firm and decorations are set.
- Freezing option: To freeze, prepare the Oreo balls as directed, place them on the baking sheet, and freeze until solid. Transfer the frozen Oreo balls to an airtight container and store in the freezer for up to 6 months.
Notes
- Freezing the Oreo balls before dipping helps the chocolate set quickly and prevents cracking.
- Add vegetable shortening or coconut oil to candy melts for a smoother, shinier coating.
- Use a toothpick and leftover melted chocolate to attach decorations securely.
- Store finished Oreo balls refrigerated for up to a week or freeze for longer storage.
- Unsweetened cream cheese softening to room temperature improves blending with cookies.
