Description

These Blackstone Queso Mexican Pizzas are a flavorful and easy-to-make dish featuring mini naan breads topped with seasoned ground beef or turkey, taco sauce, Mexican blend cheese, and creamy queso con queso. Perfectly cooked on a griddle or stovetop, they make for a delightful fusion of Mexican and flatbread flavors, ideal for casual meals or entertaining.

Ingredients

Meat Mixture

  • 1 lb. ground beef or ground turkey
  • 1 packet low sodium taco seasoning
  • Water (amount as directed on taco seasoning packet)

Pizza Base

  • 8-12 mini naan breads (depending on size)

Toppings

  • Taco sauce (to taste)
  • Mexican blend cheese (to taste)
  • 1 cup salsa con queso (jarred queso cheese)
  • Crumbled queso fresco (optional)
  • Chopped tomatoes (optional)
  • Sour cream (optional, for serving)

Instructions

  1. Cook the Meat: Preheat your Blackstone griddle or a large skillet over medium heat. Add the ground beef or turkey and cook until mostly browned, breaking it up as it cooks.
  2. Add Seasoning: Sprinkle in the low sodium taco seasoning packet and pour in the recommended amount of water. Stir to combine and let the meat mixture simmer for a few minutes until fully cooked and flavors meld.
  3. Prepare Mini Naan Breads: On the low heat side of the griddle, place the mini naan breads to warm gently. Spread taco sauce evenly over each naan.
  4. Assemble Pizzas: Sprinkle a layer of Mexican blend cheese onto each naan, then top with a generous spoonful of the seasoned taco meat.
  5. Add Queso and Queso Fresco: Drizzle each mini pizza with salsa con queso and sprinkle with crumbled queso fresco if using. Reduce or turn off the heat under the naan to prevent burning.
  6. Remove and Add Final Toppings: Take the pizzas off the griddle and add any additional toppings such as chopped tomatoes and a dollop of sour cream. Serve immediately and enjoy!
  7. Alternate Stovetop Method: If using a skillet, cook the taco meat and season as above, drain excess fat. Place assembled naan breads with toppings on a baking sheet and heat in a 350°F oven for about 10 minutes until cheese melts and naan is toasted, or broil briefly for quicker results.

Notes

  • Mini naan breads can vary in size; adjust quantity to desired pizza size.
  • Low sodium taco seasoning is recommended to control salt content.
  • You can swap ground beef for ground turkey for a leaner option.
  • Additional toppings like sliced jalapeños, avocado slices, or fresh cilantro can enhance flavor.
  • Cooking times may vary depending on your equipment; watch the naan to avoid burning.
  • For a vegetarian version, substitute seasoned beans for the ground meat and use vegetarian taco seasoning.
