Ingredients
Salmon Ingredients
- 2–4 salmon filets
- Olive oil (enough to lightly coat)
- 1/2 teaspoon paprika
- 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
Bang Bang Sauce Ingredients
- 1/3 cup mayonnaise
- 1/4 cup buffalo sauce (or hot sauce, such as Franks)
- 2 teaspoons coconut aminos (or low sodium soy sauce)
- 2 teaspoons honey
- 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1/2 teaspoon paprika
- Optional: 1 to 2 tablespoons water (to thin sauce if desired)
- Optional: Additional buffalo sauce or red pepper chili flakes for more spice
- Optional: Squeeze of lime juice
Instructions
- Preheat the Oven. Set your oven to 400 degrees Fahrenheit to ensure it’s properly heated for baking the salmon.
- Prepare the Bang Bang Sauce. In a small bowl, thoroughly mix the mayonnaise, buffalo sauce, coconut aminos, honey, garlic powder, and paprika. Optionally, thin with 1-2 tablespoons of water and add more spice with extra buffalo sauce or red pepper flakes as desired. Place the sauce in the refrigerator to chill while prepping the salmon.
- Season the Salmon. Pat the salmon filets dry with a paper towel to remove excess moisture, then lightly coat each filet with olive oil on a baking sheet. In a separate small bowl, combine paprika, garlic powder, and salt, then evenly coat the salmon filets with this seasoning blend.
- Apply the Sauce. Using a brush, spread a generous layer of the prepared Bang Bang sauce onto the salmon filets, reserving some sauce for after baking.
- Bake the Salmon. Place the baking sheet with the salmon into the preheated oven and bake for 6 to 8 minutes, depending on the thickness of the filets, until the salmon is cooked through but still moist.
- Broil to Finish. After baking, brush the remaining Bang Bang sauce onto the salmon. Set your oven to broil and broil the salmon for 2 minutes to caramelize the sauce and add a slightly charred flavor. Keep a close eye to avoid burning.
Notes
- Cooking time may vary slightly depending on the thickness of your salmon filets; thicker fillets may require more time.
- For a Whole30 compliant version, omit honey from the Bang Bang sauce.
- If you prefer a spicier kick, add more buffalo sauce or red pepper flakes to the sauce.
- Adding a squeeze of fresh lime juice can brighten the flavor if desired.
