Description

The Bahama Mama Smoothie is a refreshing tropical drink that combines fruity frozen juices with coconut water for a delicious island-inspired beverage. You can make it as a mocktail or add rum for a cocktail version, perfect for summer gatherings or relaxing by the pool.

Ingredients

For the Mocktail

  • 1 x 12 ounce container frozen orange juice
  • 1 x 12 ounce container frozen pineapple juice
  • 1 x 17 ounce can coconut water
  • 1 teaspoon coconut extract
  • 2 cups ice
  • 6 ounces grenadine
  • Pineapple slices and cherries for garnish (optional)

For the Cocktail

  • 1 x 12 ounce container frozen orange juice
  • 1 x 12 ounce container frozen pineapple juice
  • 1 x 17 ounce can coconut water or 2 cups plain water
  • 6 ounces white rum
  • 6 ounces coconut rum
  • 2 cups ice
  • 6 ounces grenadine
  • Pineapple slices and cherries for garnish (optional)

Instructions

  1. Blend Fruit Juices and Liquids: Add all the ingredients except the ice and grenadine to the pitcher of a blender. Blend until smooth to ensure the frozen juices and coconut water or water combine into a creamy texture.
  2. Add and Blend Ice: Add the ice to the blender and blend again until the ice is fully crushed and incorporated, giving the smoothie its chilled and slushy consistency.
  3. Serve and Garnish: Pour the mixture into glasses, then drizzle one ounce of grenadine on the side of each glass. Garnish with a pineapple slice and cherry before serving for a festive tropical presentation.

Notes

  • To make this recipe a mocktail, omit the rum and add coconut extract for flavor.
  • Use frozen juice containers to achieve a thick, slushy smoothie texture.
  • Adjust the amount of ice depending on your desired thickness.
  • Garnishes are optional but add visual appeal and a burst of flavor.
  • For the cocktail version, the combination of white rum and coconut rum enhances the tropical flavor.
