Description

This creamy and vibrant Avocado Cilantro Lime Hummus combines the smoothness of ripe avocado with the fresh flavors of cilantro and a hint of jalapeno heat. Blended with chickpeas, tahini, lime juice, and garlic, this hummus is a refreshing twist on the classic dip perfect for snacking or entertaining.

Ingredients

Hummus Base

  • 1 (540 ml) can chickpeas, drained (about 2 cups)
  • 1 avocado, peeled and pitted
  • ¼ bunch cilantro
  • 1 jalapeno, diced
  • 2 tablespoons tahini
  • ½ tablespoon lime juice
  • ½ teaspoon sea salt
  • ¼ teaspoon ground black pepper
  • 2 cloves garlic
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil

For Blending

  • 4-5 large ice cubes

Instructions

  1. Prepare Ingredients: Gather all ingredients except the ice cubes and place them into the bowl of a food processor for blending.
  2. Initial Blend: Blend the mixture for 4-5 minutes until smooth and well combined. Stop occasionally to scrape down the sides of the food processor bowl to incorporate all ingredients evenly.
  3. Add Ice Cubes: Add the ice cubes to the blended mixture to help achieve a lighter, creamier texture.
  4. Final Blend: Blend for another 4-5 minutes until the hummus reaches a smooth, creamy consistency. Add more ice cubes gradually if needed to reach your desired thickness.

Notes

  • Use ripe avocados for the creamiest texture and best flavor.
  • Adjust the amount of jalapeno to control the spice level.
  • If you prefer a thicker hummus, use fewer ice cubes or omit them entirely.
  • This hummus keeps well in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days.
  • Serve with fresh vegetables, pita chips, or as a spread in sandwiches.
