Description
These 10 Minute Fluffy Air Fryer Pretzel Bites are the perfect snack—crispy on the outside, soft and chewy on the inside, and buttery throughout. Made with simple ingredients and cooked quickly in an air fryer, these homemade pretzel bites are far superior to store-bought versions and ideal for game day or any celebration.
Ingredients
Pretzels
- 2 Cups water (110 degrees F)
- 4 Cups all purpose flour
- 2.4 Teaspoons quick rise yeast
- 1 Teaspoon sea salt
- 1 Tablespoon sugar (or honey)
Glaze
- 4 Tablespoons melted butter
- Pretzel salt (optional)
Instructions
- Prepare the yeast mixture: Add 2 cups of warm water (around 110 degrees F) to a bowl, then whisk in the quick rise yeast. Set aside to activate for a few minutes.
- Mix dry ingredients: In a large bowl, combine 4 cups of all-purpose flour, 1 tablespoon sugar (or honey), and 1 teaspoon sea salt.
- Create the dough: Pour the yeast-water mixture into the flour mixture and stir until a thick dough forms. If needed, add an extra tablespoon of water to achieve the right consistency. The dough should be firm but not sticky.
- Divide and shape dough: Lightly flour a countertop, then divide the dough into 8 equal pieces. Roll each piece into long ropes and slice into 1-inch pretzel bites.
- Prepare air fryer basket: Lightly spray the air fryer basket with oil of your choice to prevent sticking.
- Arrange pretzel bites: Place the pretzel pieces evenly spaced in the air fryer basket to allow room for expansion. Brush them with melted butter.
- Air fry: Cook the pretzel bites at 400 degrees F for 7 minutes or until they are lightly browned on top and cooked through.
- Finish and serve: Remove the bites from the air fryer and let them cool slightly. Brush with the remaining melted butter and sprinkle with pretzel salt if desired. Serve warm and enjoy!
Notes
- Water temperature should be warm (110 degrees F) to properly activate yeast but not kill it.
- If dough is too sticky after mixing, add flour little by little until manageable.
- You can substitute honey for sugar as a natural sweetener.
- Use an oil spray suitable for high heat to coat the air fryer basket.
- Brush pretzel bites with butter twice for maximum flavor and shine.
- Pretzel salt is optional but traditional for authentic taste and texture.
- Monitor air fryer time and temperature as different models may vary slightly.
