Description
Spinach Feta Puff Pastry Twists are savory, flaky pastry spirals filled with a creamy spinach and feta mixture, perfect as an appetizer or snack that looks impressive with minimal effort.
Ingredients
1 sheet puff pastry (store‑bought or homemade)
1 cup fresh spinach, chopped (or 1/2 cup frozen, thawed & drained)
1/2 cup crumbled feta cheese
1/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese
1 clove garlic, minced
1 tablespoon olive oil (optional, for sautéing)
Salt and pepper, to taste
1 egg, beaten (for egg wash, optional)
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
- If using fresh spinach, sauté with olive oil until wilted (2–3 minutes). If frozen, ensure it’s thawed, drained, and chopped.
- In a bowl, mix spinach, feta, Parmesan, garlic, salt, and pepper until combined.
- Roll out puff pastry on a lightly floured surface; cut into two rectangles if needed.
- Spread filling over one half of the pastry, leaving a 1/2″ border. Fold pastry over to enclose filling and press edges to seal.
- Cut into ~1″ strips. Twist each strip several times and place on the baking sheet.
- Optional: brush twists with beaten egg for golden finish.
- Bake for 15–18 minutes until golden and flaky. Cool slightly and serve warm.
Notes
Add fresh herbs like dill, oregano, or parsley for extra flavor.
For a spicy twist, add red pepper flakes or chopped fresh chili to the filling.
To make vegan, use dairy‑free puff pastry and plant‑based feta substitute.
Swap spinach for kale, chard, or add sautéed mushrooms or onions.
Assemble ahead and refrigerate up to 24 hours before baking.
