An elegant and cozy dessert of ripe pears roasted with maple syrup, butter, and cinnamon until tender and caramelized—perfect for fall evenings or simple entertaining.
Ingredients
4 ripe but firm pears (Bosc, Anjou, or Bartlett), halved and cored
2 tablespoons melted butter
¼ cup pure maple syrup
½ teaspoon ground cinnamon
Pinch of salt
Optional toppings: chopped toasted walnuts or pecans, Greek yogurt or whipped cream, extra cinnamon
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C). Lightly grease a baking dish.
- Brush pear halves with melted butter and place cut-side up in the baking dish.
- Whisk maple syrup, cinnamon, and salt together. Pour over pears.
- Roast for 25–30 minutes, basting once halfway through, until pears are tender and caramelized at the edges.
- Broil for the last 1–2 minutes for extra color and bubbling glaze if desired. Watch carefully to avoid burning.
- Remove from oven, cool slightly, and spoon syrup from the pan over the pears before serving.
Notes
Add vanilla extract or orange zest for extra aroma.
Substitute apples or combine apples and pears.
Sprinkle with rosemary or thyme before roasting for herbal nuance.
Stir dried cranberries or raisins into the syrup for chewy texture.
Drizzle aged balsamic after roasting for a sweet-tart twist.
