Ingredients
1 cup fresh or frozen cherries, pitted

Instructions
- Preheat oven to 400°F (200°C).
- Toss cherries with 1 tablespoon sugar and 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract; spread on parchment-lined baking sheet.
- Roast cherries for 10-15 minutes until caramelized and softened; set aside to cool.
- Reduce oven temperature to 350°F (175°C).
- In a mixing bowl, combine melted butter and sugar, stirring until smooth.
- Beat in eggs one at a time, then add 1 teaspoon vanilla extract.
- Sift together cocoa powder, flour, salt, and baking powder; fold into wet ingredients until just combined.
- Gently fold in roasted cherries, reserving some for topping if desired.
- Pour batter into greased or parchment-lined 8×8-inch baking pan.
- Sprinkle reserved cherries on top.
- Bake for 25-30 minutes or until a toothpick inserted near center comes out with moist crumbs.
- Allow brownies to cool completely before cutting into squares.
