Ingredients
1.5 lbs ground beef or turkey (divided into 4–6 portions)
4–6 slices Swiss cheese or 1–1¼ cups shredded Swiss
8 oz mushrooms, sliced (cremini, button, or shiitake)
1 small onion, sliced or diced
1–2 tbsp olive oil or butter
Salt and freshly ground black pepper, to taste
Optional: garlic powder or minced garlic (1 tsp)
Optional: 1 tbsp Worcestershire sauce or caramelized onion mixture
Optional garnish: fresh parsley or thyme
Instructions
- Preheat grill or oven to 400 °F (200 °C).
- Prepare 4–6 heavy‑duty foil squares, brushing one side with oil or butter.
- Shape meat into patties (one per person), seasoning with salt, pepper, and garlic if using.
- On each foil square (oiled side up), place a patty. Top with mushrooms and onions tossed in oil/butter.
- Add Worcestershire or caramelized onion mix if desired.
- Seal foil packets completely to trap steam.
- Cook on grill or in oven for 15–20 minutes, until meat reaches safe temperature (160 °F/71 °C for beef; 165 °F/74 °C for turkey) and veggies are tender.
- Carefully open packets, top each with Swiss cheese, then reseal for 1–2 minutes to melt cheese.
- Garnish with parsley or thyme if desired, and serve directly from packets or plate.
