Description

These Mushroom and Swiss Burger Foil Packets turn classic burger flavors—juicy beef (or turkey), earthy mushrooms, and melted Swiss cheese—into a fuss‑free, hands‑off dinner cooked right in individual foil packets.

Ingredients

1.5 lbs ground beef or turkey (divided into 46 portions)

46 slices Swiss cheese or 1 cups shredded Swiss

8 oz mushrooms, sliced (cremini, button, or shiitake)

1 small onion, sliced or diced

12 tbsp olive oil or butter

Salt and freshly ground black pepper, to taste

Optional: garlic powder or minced garlic (1 tsp)

Optional: 1 tbsp Worcestershire sauce or caramelized onion mixture

Optional garnish: fresh parsley or thyme

Instructions

  1. Preheat grill or oven to 400 °F (200 °C).
  2. Prepare 4–6 heavy‑duty foil squares, brushing one side with oil or butter.
  3. Shape meat into patties (one per person), seasoning with salt, pepper, and garlic if using.
  4. On each foil square (oiled side up), place a patty. Top with mushrooms and onions tossed in oil/butter.
  5. Add Worcestershire or caramelized onion mix if desired.
  6. Seal foil packets completely to trap steam.
  7. Cook on grill or in oven for 15–20 minutes, until meat reaches safe temperature (160 °F/71 °C for beef; 165 °F/74 °C for turkey) and veggies are tender.
  8. Carefully open packets, top each with Swiss cheese, then reseal for 1–2 minutes to melt cheese.
  9. Garnish with parsley or thyme if desired, and serve directly from packets or plate.

Notes

Swap beef for turkey, pork, or a plant‑based burger if you prefer.

Use cheddar, blue cheese, or Gouda instead of Swiss for a different flavor.

Add sliced bell peppers, zucchini, or spinach to veggie mix.

Marinate patties ahead in herbs or sauce for deeper flavor.

Freeze assembled, uncooked packets for up to 1 month; thaw and cook when ready.
