Description

Honey Butter Cornbread Poppers are bite-sized, fluffy, and indulgent treats that combine soft cornbread with sweet honey butter. These mini poppers are perfect for parties, side dishes, or as a snack with the perfect balance of savory and sweet flavors.

Ingredients

1 box (about 8.5 oz) cornbread mix (or homemade cornbread batter)

1/2 cup milk (or according to cornbread mix instructions)

1/4 cup vegetable oil (or according to cornbread mix instructions)

1 large egg (or according to cornbread mix instructions)

1/2 cup shredded cheddar cheese (optional, for extra flavor)

1/4 teaspoon salt (if using a non-seasoned cornbread mix)

1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened

1/4 cup honey

1/4 teaspoon cinnamon (optional, for extra flavor)

Instructions

  1. Prepare the Cornbread Batter: Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C) and grease a mini muffin tin or use muffin liners. Prepare cornbread mix according to package instructions, adding shredded cheddar cheese and salt if desired.
  2. Fill the Muffin Tin: Spoon the cornbread batter into the mini muffin tin, filling each cup about 2/3 full. Bake for 10-12 minutes or until golden brown and a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
  3. Make the Honey Butter: While the cornbread poppers are baking, beat together softened butter, honey, and cinnamon (optional) until smooth and creamy.
  4. Drizzle with Honey Butter: Once the cornbread poppers are baked and slightly cooled, drizzle honey butter over each popper. Alternatively, dip each popper into the honey butter.
  5. Serve and Enjoy: Serve warm as a snack, side dish, or party appetizer.

Notes

For added flavor, try adding finely chopped jalapeños and extra cheese for a spicy twist.

For a savory version, omit the honey butter and serve the poppers with sour cream or salsa.

For gluten-free cornbread poppers, use a gluten-free cornbread mix.
