This quick and easy recipe combines bold flavors and satisfying textures, making it a perfect weeknight dinner that’s ready in under 30 minutes. Packed with umami and perfect for those who love Asian-inspired dishes, this meal is sure to become a family favorite.

Ingredients

1 lb (450g) beef (flank steak, sirloin, or ribeye), thinly sliced

8 oz (225g) noodles (egg noodles, rice noodles, or any noodle of your choice)

2 tablespoons vegetable oil (for stir-frying)

1 onion, thinly sliced

2 cloves garlic, minced

1 bell pepper, sliced into strips

1 carrot, julienned

1 cup snap peas or green beans

1/4 cup hoisin sauce

2 tablespoons soy sauce (or tamari for gluten-free)

1 tablespoon oyster sauce (optional, for extra umami)

1 tablespoon rice vinegar

1 teaspoon sesame oil

1/2 teaspoon chili flakes (optional, for heat)

2 green onions, sliced (for garnish)

Sesame seeds (optional, for garnish)

Fresh cilantro (optional, for garnish)

Instructions

  1. Cook the noodles according to package instructions, drain, and set aside. Toss them with a little sesame oil to prevent them from sticking.
  2. In a small bowl, whisk together the hoisin sauce, soy sauce, oyster sauce (if using), rice vinegar, and chili flakes (if using). Set aside.
  3. Heat 1 tablespoon of vegetable oil in a large skillet or wok over medium-high heat. Add the sliced beef in a single layer and stir-fry for 3-4 minutes, or until it’s cooked through and browned. Remove the beef from the skillet and set aside.
  4. In the same skillet, add the remaining 1 tablespoon of oil. Add the onion, garlic, bell pepper, carrot, and snap peas (or green beans). Stir-fry for 3-4 minutes, or until the vegetables are tender-crisp.
  5. Return the cooked beef to the skillet with the vegetables. Add the cooked noodles and pour the hoisin sauce mixture over everything. Toss to coat the noodles, beef, and vegetables in the sauce. Stir-fry for an additional 2-3 minutes, allowing the flavors to combine and the sauce to thicken slightly.
  6. Remove from heat and garnish with sliced green onions, sesame seeds, and fresh cilantro, if desired. Serve immediately.

Notes

If you prefer a spicier version, add a bit of chili paste or extra chili flakes to the sauce for some added heat.

You can swap the beef for chicken, shrimp, or tofu to customize the dish to your preference.

Feel free to add other vegetables like mushrooms, zucchini, or bok choy for added texture and flavor.

For a gluten-free version, use gluten-free soy sauce or tamari and gluten-free noodles.
