Description
These Fig and Goat Cheese Pinwheels are elegant, savory bites featuring sweet fig jam and tangy goat cheese wrapped in flaky puff pastry. Perfect for appetizers, brunch, or a classy snack that looks impressive with minimal effort.
Ingredients
1 sheet puff pastry (about 9″ × 9″), thawed
⅓ cup fig jam (chunky or smooth)
4 oz goat cheese, softened
1 tablespoon honey
1 teaspoon fresh thyme leaves (or ½ teaspoon dried thyme)
Optional: 2 tablespoons chopped walnuts or pistachios
1 egg, beaten with 1 teaspoon water (for egg wash)
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 400 °F (200 °C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
- Unfold puff pastry on a lightly floured surface and gently roll to smooth. Spread fig jam evenly, leaving a ¼″ border.
- Crumble softened goat cheese over jam. Drizzle honey on top and sprinkle with thyme and optional nuts.
- Tightly roll pastry from one side to the other to form a log. Brush seam with egg wash to seal. Slice into 1″–1½″ pinwheels.
- Place pinwheels cut-side up on the prepared baking sheet, spacing them 1″–2″ apart. Brush with egg wash.
- Bake for 15–18 minutes, or until puffed and golden.
- Cool for 2 minutes, then transfer to a platter. Serve warm or at room temperature.
Notes
Use fresh figs instead of jam for a more natural texture.
Mix goat cheese with cream cheese for a milder flavor.
To make ahead, roll and slice then refrigerate up to 24 hours before baking.
Use gluten-free or vegan puff pastry for dietary needs.
Reheat in oven or air fryer for a crispy texture.
