Description

Delicious Fork Biscuits are a light, fluffy, and easy-to-make biscuit option that’s perfect for breakfast, brunch, or as a side with any meal. These biscuits use a simple method with a fork to incorporate the ingredients, making them a no-fuss recipe that still delivers that warm, comforting biscuit texture. They’re quick to whip up and perfect for when you need a homemade treat in a hurry!

Ingredients

For the biscuits:

2 cups all-purpose flour

1 tablespoon baking powder

1/2 teaspoon salt

1/2 teaspoon baking soda

1/4 cup unsalted butter, cold and cut into small pieces

3/4 cup buttermilk (or regular milk if you prefer)

For brushing:

1 tablespoon melted butter

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 425°F (220°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. In a large bowl, whisk together flour, baking powder, salt, and baking soda until well combined.
  3. Add the cold butter to the flour mixture and, using a fork, cut the butter into the flour until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs.
  4. Pour in the buttermilk and stir gently with the fork until just combined, being careful not to overmix. The dough will be sticky but should hold together.
  5. On a floured surface, turn the dough out and gently knead it a few times just to bring it together. Then, pat the dough into a 1-inch thick rectangle.
  6. Using a fork, press down lightly across the dough in a crisscross pattern, creating a slight texture on top of the biscuits. This step is key for that fork biscuit look!
  7. Cut the dough into squares or use a biscuit cutter to shape the biscuits, depending on how rustic you want them.
  8. Transfer the biscuits to the prepared baking sheet, making sure they are touching slightly for softer sides or spaced apart for crispier sides.
  9. Bake for 12–15 minutes, or until golden brown on top.
  10. Once done, brush the tops with melted butter for a shiny, flavorful finish.

Notes

Add shredded cheese or herbs like rosemary or thyme to the dough for extra flavor.

For a sweeter option, stir in a tablespoon of sugar and add a dash of cinnamon to the flour mixture.
