Description
These Crispy Fried Goat Cheese Balls are a golden, crunchy appetizer with a tangy, creamy center. Perfectly bite-sized, they’re great for entertaining or a fun snack—delicious with a drizzle of honey or jam.
Ingredients
8 oz goat cheese log or rounds, chilled
1/3 cup all-purpose flour
1–2 eggs, beaten
1 cup breadcrumbs (panko for extra crunch)
Optional: 1 tbsp chopped fresh herbs (chives, thyme)
Oil for frying (vegetable, canola, or olive)
Optional garnish: honey, fruit jam, microgreens
Instructions
- Cut chilled goat cheese into 12–16 bite-sized portions and roll into balls or flatten into discs.
- Set up a dredging station with seasoned flour, beaten eggs, and breadcrumbs (mixed with herbs if using).
- Dip each cheese piece into flour, then egg, then breadcrumbs, pressing gently to coat.
- Place coated balls on a plate and freeze for 15 minutes to firm up.
- Heat oil in a deep skillet to 350°F (175°C). Fry cheese balls in batches for 1–2 minutes until golden and crisp.
- Remove and drain on a paper towel-lined plate.
- Serve warm, optionally drizzled with honey or jam and topped with microgreens.
Notes
Substitute goat cheese with feta or cream cheese for variety.
Use crushed nuts or pretzels for added crunch and flavor.
Bake instead of fry: 400°F for 10–12 minutes, lightly sprayed with oil.
Freeze coated balls in advance for convenient frying later.
Best served fresh; reheat in the oven or skillet for crispiness.
