Description
Cranberry Turkey Grilled Cheese combines the savory goodness of turkey with the tangy sweetness of cranberry sauce, all melted together in a perfectly crispy, buttery grilled cheese sandwich. It’s a delicious twist on the classic, adding a touch of holiday flavor to your favorite comfort food. The sharp cheese and warm bread provide a perfect balance with the turkey and cranberry, making this sandwich a crave-worthy lunch or dinner option.
Ingredients
2 slices of bread (sourdough, white, or whole wheat)
2–3 ounces sliced turkey breast (leftover turkey works great)
2 tablespoons cranberry sauce (homemade or store-bought)
2 slices of cheese (cheddar, mozzarella, or Swiss)
1 tablespoon butter (for grilling)
Optional: a handful of spinach or arugula for added freshness
Instructions
- Assemble the Sandwich: Spread cranberry sauce on one side of each slice of bread. Layer the sliced turkey on one slice of bread, and top with the cheese slices. If you’re adding greens like spinach or arugula, layer them on top of the turkey before adding the cheese. Place the second slice of bread on top, cranberry side facing in.
- Grill the Sandwich: Heat a skillet or griddle over medium heat and add the butter. Once the butter is melted and bubbly, place the sandwich in the skillet. Grill the sandwich for 3-4 minutes per side, or until the bread is golden brown and the cheese is melted. Press down lightly with a spatula to help the sandwich cook evenly and achieve that crispy texture.
- Serve: Remove the sandwich from the skillet and cut it in half for easier eating. Serve warm and enjoy!
Notes
Add a few slices of avocado for extra creaminess.
Use a different type of cheese, like sharp cheddar or brie, for a richer flavor.
Swap the cranberry sauce for a tangy orange marmalade for a citrusy twist.
Try it with a whole grain or gluten-free bread to suit dietary preferences.
