Description

Churros Poppers are a bite-sized twist on classic churros, crispy and golden on the outside with a soft, delicious interior. Coated in cinnamon sugar, they are perfect for dipping in chocolate, caramel, or whipped cream.

Ingredients

1 cup water

2 tablespoons unsalted butter

1 tablespoon sugar

1/4 teaspoon salt

1 cup all-purpose flour

2 large eggs

Vegetable oil for frying

1/2 cup granulated sugar

2 teaspoons ground cinnamon

Chocolate sauce (optional)

Caramel sauce (optional)

Whipped cream (optional)

Instructions

  1. Prepare the churro dough: In a saucepan, combine water, butter, sugar, and salt. Heat over medium heat until it comes to a boil. Remove from heat and stir in the flour until a thick dough forms. Let it cool for 5 minutes.
  2. Add the eggs: Beat the eggs into the dough one at a time until smooth and sticky.
  3. Heat the oil: In a skillet, heat vegetable oil to 350°F (175°C). Test with a small piece of dough to see if it sizzles and rises to the surface.
  4. Shape the churros: Transfer dough into a piping bag with a star tip. Pipe small pieces of dough into the oil and cut them with scissors. Fry in batches, avoiding overcrowding.
  5. Fry the churros: Fry for 2-3 minutes until golden and crispy. Remove from the oil and drain on paper towels.
  6. Coat with cinnamon sugar: Combine granulated sugar and cinnamon in a bowl. While the churros are still warm, roll them in the cinnamon sugar mixture.
  7. Serve: Arrange churros poppers on a platter and serve with chocolate, caramel, or whipped cream for dipping.
  8. Enjoy: Serve and enjoy these bite-sized churros with family and friends!

Notes

For stuffed churros, add Nutella, peanut butter, or dulce de leche inside before frying.

For a gluten-free version, use gluten-free flour blend and check other ingredients for gluten-free certification.

If you prefer baked churros, bake them at 375°F (190°C) for 10-15 minutes.

Freeze churros poppers after coating in cinnamon sugar by placing them in a single layer and freezing for 1-2 hours. Store for up to 3 months and reheat at 375°F (190°C).
