Description
Sweet, crunchy, and coated in cinnamon sugar—this churro-inspired treat uses simple crackers for a delightfully addictive candy that’s perfect for snacking, gifting, or satisfying dessert cravings.
Ingredients
1 sleeve (about 30) saltine crackers
1 cup granulated sugar
2 tsp ground cinnamon
½ cup unsalted butter (1 stick)
½ cup brown sugar, packed
Optional toppings: chopped nuts, sprinkles, or drizzle of melted chocolate
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 350°F and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
- Arrange saltine crackers in a single layer on the prepared baking sheet.
- In a saucepan over medium heat, melt butter and brown sugar. Stir constantly until the mixture bubbles and thickens, about 2–3 minutes.
- Pour the hot caramel mixture evenly over the crackers and spread to coat them well.
- Bake for 5–7 minutes until bubbly and set.
- While baking, mix granulated sugar and cinnamon in a shallow bowl.
- Remove from oven and immediately sprinkle or toss the warm crackers in the cinnamon sugar mixture.
- Let the coated crackers cool completely on the sheet until set.
- Break into clusters and optionally top with nuts, sprinkles, or a chocolate drizzle.
Notes
Sprinkle chopped pecans or almonds on warm candy for nutty crunch.
Drizzle with melted dark or white chocolate after cooling for extra decadence.
Add ¼ tsp cayenne or chili powder to cinnamon sugar for a spicy-sweet twist.
Use graham crackers or waffle cookies for a different base flavor.
Top with colored sprinkles or crushed candy canes for festive flair.
