Description
Cajun Butter Apple Cider Steak is a delicious and savory dish featuring tender steak, seasoned with bold Cajun spices, and finished with a rich apple cider-infused butter sauce. The sweetness of the apple cider adds a unique depth of flavor to the savory steak, while the Cajun seasoning brings a touch of heat and smokiness. Perfect for any occasion, this recipe delivers a flavorful, satisfying meal with minimal effort.
Ingredients
2 steaks (ribeye, New York strip, or your preferred cut)
2 tablespoons olive oil (for searing)
1 tablespoon Cajun seasoning (store-bought or homemade)
Salt and pepper, to taste
1/2 cup unsalted butter, cubed
2 tablespoons apple cider
1 tablespoon honey
2 cloves garlic, minced
1 teaspoon fresh thyme or rosemary (optional)
Fresh parsley, chopped (for garnish)
Instructions
- Remove the steaks from the fridge about 30 minutes before cooking to bring them to room temperature. Pat them dry with a paper towel. Season both sides generously with Cajun seasoning, salt, and pepper.
- Heat olive oil in a cast-iron skillet or heavy-bottomed pan over medium-high heat. Once hot, add the steaks to the pan. Sear the steaks for about 4-5 minutes per side (depending on thickness) for medium-rare, or cook to your desired doneness. Remove the steaks from the skillet and set aside to rest.
- In the same skillet, reduce the heat to medium. Add the cubed butter to the pan and let it melt. Once melted, add the minced garlic and cook for 1-2 minutes until fragrant.
- Carefully add the apple cider to the pan, stirring well. Let it cook for 2-3 minutes, allowing the cider to reduce and the flavors to meld. Stir in the honey and fresh thyme or rosemary (if using), then let the sauce thicken slightly.
- Return the steaks to the pan and spoon the apple cider butter sauce over the top, letting the steak soak up the flavors for 1-2 minutes. Remove from heat and transfer the steaks to serving plates.
- Garnish with fresh chopped parsley and serve immediately. This Cajun Butter Apple Cider Steak pairs perfectly with mashed potatoes, roasted vegetables, or a fresh salad.
Notes
If you love heat, add extra cayenne pepper to the Cajun seasoning or include some chopped jalapeƱos to the butter sauce for an added kick.
You can swap the thyme or rosemary for fresh basil, parsley, or oregano depending on your preference.
You can use filet mignon, T-bone, or sirloin as alternate cuts of steak.
If you prefer not to use apple cider, substitute with beef broth or apple juice for a similar flavor.
