Description

This Avocado Cilantro Lime Sauce is a fresh, creamy, and flavorful topping that combines the smoothness of avocado, the zest of lime, and the fragrant freshness of cilantro. It’s a versatile sauce perfect for tacos, grilled meats, salads, or as a dip for chips. With just a few simple ingredients, it’s a quick and easy way to elevate any dish.

Ingredients

1 ripe avocado, peeled and pitted

1/2 cup fresh cilantro leaves

1 tablespoon lime juice (fresh is best)

1/4 cup Greek yogurt or sour cream (for a creamier texture)

12 tablespoons water (for desired consistency)

1 small garlic clove, minced (optional)

1/2 teaspoon ground cumin (optional)

Salt and pepper to taste

Instructions

  1. Blend the Ingredients: In a blender or food processor, combine the ripe avocado, cilantro leaves, lime juice, Greek yogurt (or sour cream), and optional garlic and cumin.

  2. Adjust the Consistency: Blend everything together until smooth. Add 1-2 tablespoons of water to reach your desired consistency. If you prefer a thicker sauce, omit the water or add more yogurt.

  3. Taste and Season: Taste the sauce and adjust the seasoning with salt, pepper, or more lime juice and cumin as needed for extra flavor.

  4. Serve: Transfer the sauce to a bowl or jar, and it’s ready to serve. Drizzle it over tacos, grilled chicken, salads, or use it as a dip for chips.

  5. Optional Garnish: Garnish with extra cilantro leaves or a sprinkle of lime zest for added flair.

Notes

For extra spice, blend in a small jalapeño or a pinch of cayenne pepper.

Add lime zest for a more intense lime flavor.

Substitute Greek yogurt or sour cream based on your preference for creaminess. You can also use cashew cream for a vegan version.

If you make it ahead, store it in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 2 days. To preserve its color, cover it with plastic wrap directly on the surface or add more lime juice.
